Robin Wade - CV
Served an apprenticeship as a cabinet maker and wood carver.
Studied at the Royal College of Art (under Professor Dick
Russell) in furniture and interior design, followed by a
British Council Scholarship to Finland and a year in Copenhagen
working with the architect and furniture designer, Borge
Mogensen.
Worked for Prof. Russell’s architectural firm of Russell,
Hodgson and Leigh on a wide range of projects including:
hotel interiors, board rooms, directors’ offices,
furniture for lecture theatres and libraries.
Became an associate partner and designed the Greek &
Roman Galleries at the British Museum - this was the starting
point for the future work in museums.
Set up own firm, Robin Wade Associates which specialised
in museum design.
Senior partner of Robin Wade Design Associates, then Robin
Wade & Pat Read Associates, then David
McCabe became a partner in the Robin Wade Design Partnership.
In the early 1970s part time lecturer in furniture and interior
design at Ravensbourne College of Art & Design. During
this period, served on various committees including the
Leverhulme Design Awards Committee, The Council for National
Academic awards and the Civil Service Commission for staff
appointments – particularly for the Countryside Commission.

McCabe set up an Australian office.
Robin Wade made a Senior Fellow of the Royal College of
Art.
Robin Wade became a consultant to David
McCabe who established David
McCabe Design, and is now working with him on a range
of museum projects.
