Background
In
1968, I set up my own design firm which has specialised
in the planning and design of museums and exhibitions –
very often with a research and editorial role.
My partnerships have worked on some 200 projects across
the world, including Australia,
New Zealand, USA, Poland, Jordan, Venezuela,Cuba and the
UK.
Many of these have won national and international awards
including the Museum of the Year
for Britain and the Museum of Europe.
I owe a huge debt of gratitude to inspired clients who have
‘owned’ their projects in such creative ways,
who have respected my ignorance of their academic disciplines,
but have recognised the surprising things that can arise
from trust and the meeting of open minds.
I have been privileged to be part of the many fundamental
and exciting developments in the museum world since the
mid 1960s. I believe that I am good at recognising the essentials
and ‘shape’ of a project and the creative talents
of all the team members.
I am now working as a consultant with my former
partner David
McCabe.
